MÍTING d’AUTO, the great night of the Catalan automotive industry

MÍTING d’AUTO, the night of the automotive industry of Catalonia, celebrates its fourth edition. Its gala format and the recognition awards for companies in the sector puts in value its relevance in the Catalan territory. The awards evaluate the proposals of the different candidates in four categories to promote the different activities that are developed in the CIAC’s associated companies.

In the words of Josep Maria Vall, president of the CIAC: "We are very proud to celebrate this appointment for the fourth consecutive year of the automotive sector in Catalonia. With MÍTING d'AUTO we wanted to reinvent ourselves because the industry is constantly reinventing itself. We want to emphasize our sector and honour the companies associated with the CIAC Awards, for their effort to innovate and adapt to new environments. Now is the time to align our strategy to face and accompany the new trends and business models”.

For his part, Genís Alonso, managing director of Nissan Motor Ibérica, and who holds a vice presidency of the CIAC, highlights the need to "maintain a competitive and innovative automotive industry that is able to face the different challenges posed by the new technological and environmental reality".

As a novelty this year, attendees of the event enjoyed two exclusive areas of the MÍTING D’AUTO: first, the CIAC Digital Safari by Accenture, a space dedicated to the new technologies applied to the sector. During the first part of the night, the guests were able to attend 6 innovative experiences through companies in the sector collaborating with the event: Hybrid Spaces, 3D Modeling, Advanced Analytics, Extended Reality, Applied Intelligence and Industry X. 0.

There was also the LEAF space, a zone supplied with a dissected Nissan LEAF, to see its internal functioning. The Nissan LEAF is the best-selling 100% electric model in the world. The new PickUp Navara (in its special AT32 offroad version) has also been exhibited, as well as the e-NV200 electric van in its passenger version, both models manufactured at the Zona Franca de Barcelona plant.

The e-NV200, 100% electric, is manufactured successfully in Barcelona exclusively for everyone since 2014 and has already received more than 10,000 orders in Europe, where it is the leader of electric commercial vehicles in 10 markets. In the first five months of 2019, Nissan has produced more than 5,300 units in Zona Franca, 240% more than in the same period of the previous year. With its 300 km of zero emission autonomy in the urban cycle, it represents a great opportunity for large distribution companies and small businesses, which need to have a last mile efficient, sustainable, zero emission and noise-free fleet in their fleets.

We want to appreciate all the sponsors of the event for their dedication and commitment during the night and their preparation: Accenture, Bosch, Nissan, the Port of Barcelona, ABB, AsorCAD, Avanade, Condals Foundry, SEAT and Tecnomatrix.
